Here are a few questions some people have about Hypnotherapy. Hope the answers help. Remember - you can ask us anything, even if the question is not asked or answered below.
Hypnotherapy feels a lot like daydreaming or meditating. The difference is your hypnotherapist guides your unconscious mind into a relaxed state and provides the suggestions you discussed to change limiting mental patterns and behaviors that no longer serve you.
Almost every session is conducted via Zoom. You relax at home and use your phone or computer to access a Zoom meeting with your hypnotherapist. Then, by using her voice, your hypnotherapist, helps you into a relaxed physical and mental state, which is called a trance. By using a relaxing voice and cadenceof speech, your hypnotherapist speaks to your unconscious mind to help it work on your desired result.
NO!
Hypnotherapy cannot affect, change, or eliminate your values or morals. You will always be you. Hypnotherapy can aid in changing or eliminating behaviors, persistent thoughts or bad habits that you want to change.
These shows are for entertainment. The hypnotist scans the audience at the beginning to determine which people are susceptible to suggestion by asking questions to the group.
The people chosen are usually fun-loving people who are up for the fun. You will notice that anyone who volunteers or who is chosen who doesn't "play well" is shortly put to sleep and left alone or sensentd back to the audience.
Going into a trance is very similar to meditating or drifting off to sleep. It is a very pleasant feeling, like the times you lie down to sleep and before you actually fall asleep, your mind kind of floats about thinking this or that in a peaceful, non-concentrating kind of way.
It can also feel like being in the "zone" or like the times you are driving and all of the sudden you arrive at your destination without the memory of actually driving there.
It really depends on you. Some issues such as overcoming anxiety can be resolved quickly - 2-4 sessions. Other issues such as weight loss or stopping smoking can be more of an extended process - 6-12 sessions. Allowing yorself to fall into a trance easily and deeply make the process much easier for you.
Because all the work is done by you and your own unconscious mind, there is no guarantee of results. There are times people believe they want to change, but deep inside themselves they experience some kind of benefit to keeping the behavior or belief as it is. If they can bring themselves to believe the "new" way will bring a greater benefit, they will change. If not, no; all will remain as it was.
